Cost

Optional Free First Session:  I offer the option of having the first session as a “meet and greet” time where I get an idea of what clients* are looking for in regards to personal tutoring.  This is usually half an hour.  It is optional.

Pre-assessment:  Following the first session, I schedule an hour and a half session during which I will do a pre-assessment of the student.  Based on this evaluation, which is both formal (i.e. computer or written test) and informal (teacher observation), I will propose an individualized tutoring plan.  I charge a flat rate of $50.00 for this service.  The pre-assessment covers reading, writing and arithmetic.  The purpose of the pre-assessment is to establish a baseline for where the student is currently performing.  The purpose of the individualized tutoring plan is to set goals for student progress.

Tutoring Sessions:  It is my preference to always schedule 45 minute to 1 hour tutoring sessions.  The price for one 45 minute session is $20.00.  The price for an 1 hour session is $25.00.  If a client chooses to pre-pay, there is a $5.00 discount for each pre-paid session.  So, two pre-paid 45 minute sessions would cost $30.00 and two pre-paid hour sessions would cost $40.00.

Homeschool annual evaluation:  I prefer to do pre, mid, and post evaluations for clients with this need.  I am willing to do only an annual evaluation, but it is not what I recommend.  My rate for pre, mid, and post evaluations is $45.00 (total) for one child.  My rate for this service once annually is $30.00 for one child.  I give discounts for families based on number of children and/or financial need.  Please contact me with your specific circumstance.

Cancellation: I prefer at least a 24 hour notice of cancellation.  If the session is re-scheduled and was cancelled with at least a 24 hour notice, that will be appreciated greatly.  If the session is re-scheduled, but was cancelled with less than a 24 hour notice, no penalty will be incurred, however, if a client shows habitual cancelling and re-scheduling, I may require pre-payment with an understanding that a portion of the payment will be kept due to inconvenience.
